What You Should Know About AGS & Skin Care.

Have you ever heard of a tick borne illness called Alpha Gal Syndrome? It’s a sugar molecule contracted by a Lone Star Tick, that once transmitted to a human can cause an allergy or sensitivity to Anything containing Mammal and/or Mammal-by-product.

Often referred to as The Red Meat Allergy, that doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface. It’s not just about consuming mammal meat - it’s about the sheer number of products out there that contain mammal that can cause such a huge array of reactions and symptoms. All of that is a whole other story - but I want to touch on HOW having AGS can cause contraindications that you may not have ever considered or even known to ask.

Products containing ingredients with mammal and mammal-by-products are more than concerning. It’s not just So Many food and drinks on the shelves. Those ingredients can be found in hair products, beauty products, hygiene products, medications, and even Toilet Paper for goodness sakes.

And the affects can vary just as much or more from person to person, from sleep deprivation, to migraines, to mouth sores, ulcers, full body hives, to weeping cluster hives, to extreme abdominal Pain, gas, bloating, diarrhea, vomiting, hair loss, etc…

It’s a life-altering disease that’s hard to live with and all too familiar for myself, as I was diagnosed in Aug of 2017. And after a handful of reactions to things like anti aging face cream, peppermint chapstick, to eyelash glue - and not getting the guidance I needed to help me move forward in my own skin care and health journey, I decided to go to school and learn for myself so that I can help guide others with allergies and sensitive skin issues.

If you’d like more information, feel free to ask whatever questions you’d like. I’m still a student (until January) and still learning about ingredients myself - but I am happy to help you understand more about AGS and how to go about treating others that may come to you for simple services that may not understand what can and cannot be used .
